What Did I Miss?

I was holding my phone the other day and for some reason I caught myself wondering… how much does an iPhone actually weigh?
Not much. Just a few ounces.
And yet, in that moment, it felt heavier than that.
Because it wasn’t just the phone I was holding. I was holding my attention. My focus. My awareness. And while I was there, looking at it, something else was happening around me that I wasn’t part of.
I missed a conversation.
I missed a smile.
I missed that small, simple connection that was right in front of me.
And it made me think… what else do we miss without even realizing it?
Maybe there was a robin in a tree nearby. Maybe there was a quiet moment in nature. Maybe even something as rare as a deer moving at the edge of the forest. Those moments don’t call out to us. They don’t buzz or light up or demand our attention. They just happen… and if we’re not there, they pass.
We tend to think of hypnosis as something you go into, like it’s separate from everyday life. But the truth is, we’re already going in and out of trance all day long.
Scrolling. Thinking. Replaying. Worrying. Checking one more thing.
It’s still a focused state. It’s just not always focused on what matters most in that moment.
And when your mind is locked into that kind of focus, everything else fades into the background. Conversations pass. Opportunities pass. Moments pass. And most of the time, we don’t even notice they were there to begin with.
That’s where hypnosis can actually help in a very practical way.
Not by taking control of your mind, but by helping you take it back.
It allows you to notice where your attention goes automatically and gives you the ability to shift it. To come back into the moment you’re actually living instead of being pulled somewhere else.
Because life isn’t just the big events we plan for or remember. It’s built out of the small moments in between. A conversation that mattered. A laugh that caught you off guard. A breath of fresh air that felt different for a second.
Those are the moments that make up a life.
And once they’re gone, they’re gone.
So it becomes a simple question…
What are you holding onto that might be pulling you away from your life?
And what would change if you could set it down, even just for a little while?
If you’ve been feeling distracted, overwhelmed, or like life is moving a little too fast, this is something we can work on.
Book a free screening so you can discover how your mind is currently working and how to shift it so you can be more present, more aware, and more connected to what’s happening around you.
